Monday’s featured event was the Monday Morning Cruisers Ride that departed at 9 a.m., meeting at Verburg Park’s north entrance in Kalamazoo.
This ride was a recreational-paced event on the Kalamazoo Valley River Trail, and is only one of many planned for the week.
“We’re happy to say that this year, many of Bike Week’s featured events and activities can be enjoyed out of doors while being mindful of public health considerations or can be accessed online,” event co-chair Paul Runnels said in a written statement. “In addition, this year we are underscoring the need for bicyclists and motorists to drive and bike safely – for everyone to follow the rules of the road.”
As the weather warms up, people are more likely to travel by bicycle in greater numbers, which is why the emphasis on safety was implemented.
Details on featured activities and an updated downloadable Bike Week poster can be found online at www.kalamazoobikeweek.org.
In a related matter, Paul Wells and Renee Mitchell, both of the Kalamazoo Bike Club, spoke with WKZO Monday morning about Kalamazoo Bike Week.
