KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Two schools in Kalamazoo County have been recognized for their efforts in the area of “Whole Child Supports.”
The Michigan Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development established an award that celebrates schools demonstrating excellence in areas such as Social and Emotional Climate, Psychological and Social Services, Health Services, Nutrition Services, Physical Education, Health Education, Community Involvement, Family Engagement, and Employee Wellness.
Two out of the three schools chosen from around the state were in Kalamazoo County.
They were Galesburg Augusta Middle School (Gold Award) and Parchment Northwood Elementary (Bronze Award). Both Schools earned the recognition in Fall 2021.

Parchment Northwood Elementary is holding a public event called SEL (Social Emotional Learning) Talk Day on Wednesday, April 27th from 8 a.m to 12 p.m. This is an event that is designed to share information, give classroom demonstrations, and bring educators and families together in a discussion around Social Emotional Learning.
