KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Wayne State University is honoring Kalamazoo native Sergeant Collin Rose who was killed in the line of duty six years ago on November 22.
The university is remembering Rose with an honor chair, symbolizing the empty seat he left in the community and for his loved ones.
The 29-year-old Wayne State University Police Department officer was shot in 2016 during an investigation and later died of his injuries.
The chair, unveiled last week, sits in the police headquarters of the university within the Collin Rose Leadership Library.
Rose served as a K-9 handler for Wayne State University. His retired K-9 partner, Clyde, passed away in June 2021.
