On Thursday I decided to treat myself to a take-out from Tony’s Restaurant. At the end of the meal, I always enjoy cracking open that ‘Fortune Cookie’ and of course reading the fortune. I personally love ending the reading with, “…in bed” (that one always makes me giggle)! Yet, I digress.
After this lunch, I think something special happened.
When I split open the cookie, to my surprise, I found not one, but FIVE fortunes tucked in there just for me.
Now, they weren’t stuck together, which made them feel special. I laid them out on my desk and read them one by one. All the fortunes were either sweet or hopeful, which made my day. Then I had a thought…there are numbers on the back of the written fortunes…
My mind started to spin. If I was lucky to get five fortunes, then maybe I was lucky enough to take these numbers and play the lottery! Could I win?
WHAT?!?!
I have never played the Michigan Power Ball before, but I said to myself, “Self, let’s do this”.
That is what I did! On my way home from work I got 5 tickets with the numbers from each fortune!
Crazy, I know, but the second I committed, played the numbers and the official tickets landed on the palm of my hand I just drifted off to dream land. What would I do with the money? Would I leave work, travel, give all my time to charity, start a foundation of my own…wow, if I won the world really could become my oyster.
I think the best thing so far is that I feel lucky to receive five fortunes. Why, because it made me dream a little dream.
I know the “House always wins” and the dream will be over Saturday night, but until then, I am going to enjoy the thought of endless possibilities.
