A far-fetched incident happened to me over the weekend.
Recently, I wrote a blog regarding ‘The Room I Do Not’ speak of and getting it organized. Over a few days of work, I found items that I thought were lost forever. For example, my ski goggles, a small, glass dog, and a strange place I discovered a lost shoe. You can read all about it in my blog ‘Sometimes I feel my home is a Lost and Found Box’.
Later in the week I started dwelling on my home security, or lack thereof. I know that I watch a lot of true crime TV shows and movies, but I am single, and live alone, so the need for protection seems important. Yet due to finances, I had to find an alternative, cheap solution. I did just that, thanks advice from an old TV show. You can read about my super idea in my blog “My New Security System’.
Then the most extraordinary thing happened. I returned to ‘The Room I Do Speak Of’ to continue the quest of things lost never to be found again in hopes of finding a small treasure.
When what to my wonder eyes did appear, but a stun gun, all glittery, with batteries included! No joke! I completely forgot that my old morning show partner in Iowa gave me the stun gun because I walked everywhere. If it was less than 5 miles away, I walked, day or night. Growing up just miles outside Detroit, and the ‘D’ being my fist playground of young teen antics, I am pretty fearless. Nerveless, I took the thoughtful gift, thanked him, and proceeded to toss it into a box titled ‘Look Through”. It has been three moves since I have opened it and when I did, I discovered a bunch of fun things. The craziest item is the Stun Gun!
I stumbled upon Scott West the next day and asked him “Wanna have some fun?” His response (now, this is very important) “sure”. I went on to explain the Stun Gun find but I concerned that the batteries may be too old, and I need to test it out. You guessed it, he FREAKED. Scott grabbed the gun and started reading the back of the box out loud …here is what it says.
- 25 Second – A short blast can startle an attacker; cause minor muscle contractions and can have a repelling effect.
- 1to 4 Seconds – A moderate blast can cause an attacker to fall and can cause mental confusion. It may deter further attack, but they will be able to get up almost immediately.
- 5 Seconds or More – A full blast can immobilize an attacker causing disorientation, loss of balance, falling to the ground, weakness, and leaving them dazed.
What’s so bad about that, it’s not like he’s going to poop himself besides, it’s more the striking area he should fear. I don’t think he noticed the drawing of places to hit, they include…
- The Face
- Right upper chest
- Left Upper Chest
- Center Chest
- Upper Left Thigh
- Upper Right Thigh
- And ummm, lets call it the ‘Family Jewels’, yep dead center (the hurt shot).
I suppose if Scott West says no, no it is. As fun as it would be to hide around a corner and zing him, it’s not worth losing my job and possibly gaining a rap sheet.
Testing out a weapon is never a good I idea, but I will carry it (come on, it’s pink glitter)! I just hope if I ever have to use it works!
