NEW YORK, July 1 (Reuters) – Goldman Sachs on Wednesday named Michael Bosworth as acting general counsel and a member of its core executive leadership team, replacing Kathryn Ruemmler, who stepped down from the role from June 30.
Ruemmler resigned this year as chief legal officer and general counsel after documents published by the U.S. Justice Department showed she accepted gifts from late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and advised him on how to address media inquiries regarding his crimes. Her resignation was effective June 30.
She will testify before the U.S. House Oversight Committee investigating Epstein in mid July.
U.S. Democratic lawmakers Elizabeth Warren and Raja Krishnamoorthi have flagged concerns to Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon over his reported plans to keep top lawyer Ruemmler as an adviser despite her links to Epstein.
Goldman Sachs has declined to comment on Ruemmler’s advisory role.
The Wall Street firm also named Ericka Leslie, its chief administrative officer, in its executive officers’ team, according to the bank’s website.
