LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A new poll from Emerson College shows Democrat Jocelyn Benson leading Republican John James, 49% to 42%, in the race for governor.
Benson is the current Secretary of State and James is a suburban Detroit Congressman.
6% of voters are undecided, 1% support Libertarian Party candidate Anthony Hudson and 1% back Green Party candidate Douglas Campbell.
The poll found Benson is better known and better liked than James.
The economy is the top issue for voters, with 47% saying so, compared to 13% saying healthcare and 11% saying threats to democracy.
