Mea culpa. My mistake. I owe MAGA an apology.
Back in 2024, MAGA supporters, and their cultish leader, Donald Trump, repeatedly cautioned that if I voted for Kamala Harris, I would regret it.
They warned that inflation would run wild. We wouldn’t be able to afford groceries or gas, mortgages or medicine.
They said we’d be in unwanted wars, started simply to prop up a lame administration. We’d spend billions and lose lives, fighting for unstated goals with no end in sight.
They promised that gas prices would soar. Budgets would be squeezed while Americans made the choice between gas and food.
They noted that the Jeffrey Epstein victims would be ignored and the Epstein files would never be released. High-profile individuals would be protected at the victims’ expense.
I was told that we would keep hearing about Biden; a vote for Harris would guarantee that Biden would stay in the news. We’d had enough of Biden.
They argued that America’s national debt would explode. Republicans would eliminate debt, but a vote for Harris would guarantee runaway debt in a country that was already hemorrhaging.
They warned that immigration would be chaotic and that immigrant crime would be out of control.
And they guaranteed that other nations would laugh at us. No one would take our president seriously, and national alliances would be jeopardized. Respect for America would be gone.
I haven’t done it often in the last 50-plus years, but I voted for a Democrat for president. And all the predictions came true. I regret everything since.
Inflation is up; higher than in 2024. Interest rates are going back up for the first time in more than three years.
We’re at war. Not only have we not ended the war in Gaza, or the Ukraine-Russia war on Day-one, we’ve added a new war in Iran. It has cost billions, and it has cost American lives, and it has impacted world oil supplies, which has resulted in…
Yep, gas prices are just short of $5 per gallon in Michigan. And diesel is heading toward $7. Gas prices are hurting citizens, and diesel prices are impacting almost every other cost Americans have. Farmers are giving up.
The Epstein victims are being victimized yet again. They have been disrespected by the Justice Department, and the Epstein files, despite court orders to the contrary, have not all been released. What high-profile individual could we be protecting?
Joe Biden has not been forgotten, having his name mentioned by the current president an estimated 890 times, just in 2026. That figure does not include daily mentions by Cabinet members who seek to blame today’s problems on the guy who left office about 600 days ago.
Our national debt recently topped $40 trillion. National debt was $19 trillion ten years ago. That seemed high then. We have added more to the national debt in the last ten years than we did in the first 240. Ouch. Sounds like another Biden reference is coming.
Immigration is simply chaotic, though not quite how we predicted. ICE has killed several people, acts that seem not to even warrant investigations, and this week in Texas, ICE shot a Texas food-delivery driver in the back. After allowing the victim four hours of recovery in a hospital, where his bullet was not removed because of its proximity to the spine, ICE locked him in a detention center where he had to sleep on the floor. He was SHOT IN THE BACK!!
And our alliances? Many nations are laughing and the rest hate us. We have insulted many countries and started trade wars with our allies, while sharing hugs and love letters with authoritarian leaders. The memes are brutal, and predictable. But we did not expect A.I.-generated superhero memes from our president that have led to ridicule, and even more hate. It is embarrassing. Or it should be. Maybe our priorities are skewed (oops, I wrote that one last week).
I voted for a Democrat and the predictions all came true. And who knew that the Supreme Court would support it all, choosing partisanship over law?
MAGA, you warned me. I should have listened. I couldn’t quite get behind the ticket, but you told me what would happen, “Mac, if you vote for Harris, all you’ll get is regrets.”
Yep, I got em.
But please know that I didn’t really vote for any of this. I didn’t vote to rename the Great Lakes. I didn’t vote for Seashell-gate. I didn’t vote for incompetent, sycophantic Cabinet members whose main qualification is embarrassing fealty, “Thank you sir, for being you, and allowing me to be near you.” I didn’t vote to build more monuments and slap up more tacky gold everywhere. I didn’t vote to tear down the East Wing or the Kennedy Center. I didn’t vote to eliminate the first amendment of the Constitution, or the fourteenth. I didn’t vote to alienate the leaders of every allied nation. I didn’t vote to make the president and his family richer than they have ever been while Americans struggle.
And I know that I didn’t vote for Washington to inspire a new American slogan of, “Wait… you mean they’re actually doing that?”
You warned me. You told me I’d be sorry. I am.
