COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Sturgis man was arraigned Tuesday in Branch County District Court on four charges after he allegedly stole a vehicle at knifepoint.
26-year-old Joshua Thomas Summey was charged with domestic violence, unlawful driving away of an automobile, assault with a dangerous weapon and driving with a suspended license.
Michigan State Police arrested him at about 1:00 a.m. Tuesday morning at Dove’s Landing off Union City Road.
Court documents indicate the State Police were called after a woman reported Summey allegedly demanded the keys to the vehicle from her and drove off.
Summey was back in court Wednesday where he waived extradition back to Noble County, Indiana. The charges in Branch County will be adjudicated before Summey is turned over to authorities in Indiana.
Summey’s bond in the Branch County case has been set at $35,000. A probable cause hearing is set for November 14 with a preliminary exam November 19, 2019.
