KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – On the heels of heavy snowfall Thursday and Friday, another batch of the white stuff is expected to roll in Saturday.
The National Weather Service has extended their Winter Storm Warning for West Michigan, anticipating another six inches to 12 inches of snow by Sunday morning.
The highest accumulations will be near and west of US-131. Some areas may see pockets of 12 inches or more. Even when the current warnings and advisories expire, snow will continue through Sunday.
With winds from the west/southwest at 10-20 mph, blowing snow will likely reduce visibility.
Near white-out conditions on I-94 between Kalamazoo and Mattawan Friday morning contributed to several vehicle slide-offs.
Up to 11 inches of snow has been reported in some parts of Kalamazoo County as of Friday morning.
