LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A new study finds the state of Michigan is underfunding roads by $3.9 billion a year and 45-percent of non-federal aid roads are in poor condition.
Governor Whitmer says she is not surprised at all by the findings, which are blamed on decades of underfunding.
Michigan Chamber of Commerce president Jim Holcomb says action needs to be taken now.
The Michigan Infrastructure and Transportation Association says solutions need to include an increase in the gas tax or the sales tax or taxing people on how many miles they travel.
