MARSHALL, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – A groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the renovation of the Calhoun County Youth Center has been scheduled for August 11.
The Youth Center is located at 14555 18 1/2 Mile Rd in Marshall.
Nearly $13 million in renovations are being made to the Youth Center which will almost double its square footage to nearly 30,000 square feet.
Officials say there will be an increase capacity at the juvenile detention facility thanks to the use of a podular design from 42 to 52 beds.
While the location of the Youth Center will stay the same and it will continue to operate through the phased construction, it was stated in a news release that 72 percent of the existing building will be completely replaced.
