KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Five people have been arrested between March 5th and 7th in drug and weapons busts in Kalamazoo County.
The Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team and Crime Reduction Team were assisted by the Michigan Department of Corrections and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
One suspect was taken into federal custody for an outstanding federal drug warrant from a previous KVET investigation and was arrested in the 5400 block of Meredith Street in Portage and police seized cocaine and drug sale evidence when they executed a search warrant in the 4600 block of Laceflower Street in Comstock Township.
Two search warrants were carried out in the 600 block of Lulu Street in the city of Kalamazoo and the 5200 block of South Circle Drive in Cooper Township, and police seized an ounce of fentanyl along with cocaine, a gun, and drug sale evidence. The 28-year-old man will be facing several felony charges.
A third man, 46-years-old, was arrested in the 7200 block of Capri Street in Portage after police found fentanyl, a large amount of currency, and drug sale evidence.
A fourth suspect was arrested after a search warrant was carried out in the 1500 block of North Park Street in Kalamazoo, with meth, crack cocaine, and fentanyl being seized. The 25-year-old man was also found with a concealed gun on him and is not allowed to have a weapon due to a prior felony conviction.
The fifth suspect was arrested in the 1200 block of Woodward Avenue in Kalamazoo. The 24-year-old man was found with a half-ounce each of fentanyl and crack cocaine and over a pound of marijuana.
