LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The State of Michigan is investing $1.5 million in five projects aimed at strengthening the state’s maritime industry.
The funding will leverage another $2 million from private industry, bringing the total investment to $3.5 million. Projects include an autonomous maritime testing corridor, an electric research vessel and a cold-water first responder designed for Lake Superior search and rescue.
The projects are part of Michigan’s new 10-year Maritime Strategy focused on infrastructure, clean energy, research and workforce development.
