LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Michigan Attorney General’s Office is investigating a false child abuse report targeting former U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.
A spokesperson said Monday that common sense should have made it clear the allegations lacked credibility before Buttigieg was separated from his four-year-old twins overnight in June. The office says knowingly filing a false child abuse report can be a felony under Michigan law.
Investigators have also asked Michigan State Police to turn over evidence related to the alleged violation of the Buttigieg family’s privacy.
