BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Health concerns have caused the Battle Creek Bombers to move their home games to Homer Stryker Field in Kalamazoo.
The Northwoods League team, part of the Michigan South pod, said that Battle Creek officials have not given approval for play to take place at C.O. Brown Stadium, so the team has gotten approval to play in Kalamazoo.
“Despite our best efforts, we have been unable to receive the thumbs up from the City of Battle Creek and Calhoun to host games at C.O. Brown Stadium. We love playing in front of the community of Battle Creek and this is another instance where the fans are the ones who have to suffer from the decisions of others,” said Bombers General Manager, Tyler Shore.
Bombers officials are hopeful that they will play some games in the Cereal City this season.
This comes after a back and forth battle on whether or not the Northwoods League could play. The Kalamazoo Growlers released a statement saying that after extensive communication with the health and sheriff’s departments, the Attorney General’s office, and in conjunction with the team’s attorneys at Willis Law they have obtained clearance to proceed with their season as planned.
Beginning July 17th, the Bombers will play their remaining scheduled home games at Homer Stryker Field until further notice.
